How to Get the Most Out of Yoga Videos?

I used to be a big fan of yoga videos but sometime ago I started avoiding them because I thought that they lack the energy of a group and spontaneity of yoga classes. But I quickly realized that I can't go to a yoga studio everyday because of my jam packed schedule. It'll be possible on weekends only but I can watch yoga videos everyday either on my smartphone or on my tablet. So once again I had no choice but to start watching yoga videos on YouTube.
It's great that we live in such a wonderful world in which we can get information about anything on our fingertips whenever we need it. Same is true for yoga too and there's no shortage of yoga videos in the online space. From long sequences of 90 minutes to smaller asana videos of 5 minutes there's always something that can help you out with your practice. Yoga videos can turn out to be a great tool for your practice but only if you use them properly. Here are a few tips I've found helpful to get the most out of yoga videos.
  1. Make changes. Studios aim to provide one teacher and one particular sequence of practice but with videos you can take the advice of several teachers at the same time. You can also find out various sequences and choose the one that seems easier and convenient. Don't afraid of making changes. However, just be sure that the teachers doing yoga in the videos have enough recognition in the yoga community.

  2. Challenge yourself. This is probably one of the best benefits of trying yoga videos - they allow you to choose your own intensity level. If you feel the need of being gentle with yourself or think about exploring something a bit deeper, the pause button is always there for your service. But of course, if used obsessively then it can turn out to be a distractor too. When you practice with videos you hold yourself accountable for the hard work that you do. So it's a challenging thing in itself.

  3. Practice according to your convenience. Another thing that I like about practicing with videos is the flexibility of time. You can practice according to your convenience whenever you've some free time. However, at the same time you shouldn't take it as a joke and practice regularly.

  4. Go a bit deeper. I would like to admit that I'm not a big fan of practicing with yoga videos-sometimes they sound inauthentic to me while other times I like to practice at my own pace. However, whenever I want to study a particular pose at a deeper level, they're my first and most preferred resource for digging deeper. And that's how I leant the hardest poses with ease. I love watching the approach and take of different teachers on a particular pose and often find out an easier way of doing tough poses.

It is advised to look out for yoga weekend retreats as well as yoga teacher training in Bhagsunag for the purpose to plan your yoga holidays.
